The Story of an Overweight Chihuahua
There’s a story out right now that will be played on the Animal Planet channel about an overweight Chihuahua name Gracie. She weighs 41.5 pounds when she should be weighing only 8 pounds, at the most. Her owner, Lisa, decided that she had to do something about her weight issue. They decided to take her on a show featured on the Animal Planet called My Big Fat Pet Makeover. On the show, Lisa realized that what she was doing for Gracie was unhealthy for her. She constantly fed her throughout the day and she never did any sort of exercises (such as walking) with Gracie. The show’s host/dog trainer, Brorsen, told Lisa that Gracie could die from health problems related to the obesity if she didn’t start making a lifestyle change for Gracie. Before Lisa brought Gracie onto the show, Gracie couldn’t even walk one block. But through several weeks of training, Gracie was able to walk a few blocks. Lisa also changed Gracie’s eating habits by measuring how much food she should be giving Gracie. Gracie seems to be a much happier dog now that she’s able to run around and play!
