When Walt Disney was still in its early stages, Hugh Harman was an artist that worked at Walt Disney. He came up with the idea of a mouse to start up a cartoon series back in 1925. Hugh came up with the Mickey Mouse character, but the name that he came up with did not sound right to his wife, Lillian. Do you know what name Hugh came up with for Mickey Mouse before he actually became Mickey Mouse? Well, if you didn’t guess, it was “Mortimer Mouse”! Originally, Hugh thought Mortimer would have been a good name for the mouse that he created, but Lillian later convinced Hugh to change Mortimer’s name to Mickey. Can you imagine Mickey Mouse actually being named Mortimer? How would that had affected Minnie’s name? Would she had ended up with an odd name herself? I guess we’ll never know because Mickey Mouse has officially been Mickey now for 92 years now (that’s right, Mickey Mouse is 92 years old)!
