This is a spider we found on our garage with yellow stripes and it is humongous! Were we freaked out? Why, of course! Who wouldn’t be?!? We headed over to our trusty friend, Google, to find out what kind of freakish spider this is that’s hanging out on our garage. According to Wikipedia, this spider is called a Yellow Garden Spider (Argiope aurantia). They have a black and yellow pattern. They normally breed two times a year. They are known for their cool zigzag design on their webs, which helps them trap their preys. The big question is, are they dangerous? Well, they are usually not aggressive, but they will bite if they are grabbed or if there is pressure applied to them. For healthy adults, their venom is not considered to be much of an issue. Just make sure to watch young kids around these spiders or someone whose immune system is not that great because it could cause a bad reaction, such as someone who has a bad reaction with bee stings. We’re glad we got to the bottom of this freakishly-looking spider!!
