Liquid Can Boil And Freeze At The Same Time!

You read that right.  Liquid can boil and freeze at the same time.  But before that can happen, the air inside the container that holds the liquid needs to be sucked out of the container.  Then you need to find the correct pressure and temperature combination to reach what’s called the “triple point” of the liquid.  The triple point is when the temperature and pressure are so precise that the matters that are involved (solid, liquid, and gas) have reached an equal balance.  So how do you get the container and the liquid to reach the triple point?  You have to boil the liquid until it freezes, but you must have the liquid in a pressure chamber so that you can take all of the air out.  That’s when the right temperature and pressure are contained inside the chamber, which then allows the liquid to boil and freeze at the same time.  Mindblown yet?
